DuPont Powder Line Satisfies Two-Year Accident Free Run

At the Barksdale Plant a safety party celebrated two years of operation without a lost time accident in the Powder Department. The event featured a festive program with music, speeches by Du Pont officials, safety banners, and a dynamite themed display, attended by nearly 200 employees and their wives.

Knights of Pythias install officers at Odd Fellows hall

The Knights of Pythias held an installation of newly elected officers at the Odd Fellows hall on Tuesday evening. C Wm Lumsden and others were installed. dancing followed with refreshments served and a late-night luncheon as the crowd enjoyed the event. Notable attendees included Dan Maxcy and Ike Berman amid a large turnout.

Crushed at Lumber Camp in Tragic Woodlot Accident

John Stemic a Croatian worker at Wachsmuth Lumber camp north of Salmo died after a dray load of logs trapped him between the logs and a tree. He sustained hip fractures and internal injuries while on Monday morning duty. He died at Bayfield depot while awaiting transport to Ashland hospital. He left a wife and children in Croatia with a brother in Wyandott Michigan. The body rests at Amos M Hansen undertakers awaiting relatives' word.

Wisconsin Road School Set for January Madison Meeting

The 11th Annual Road School of the Wisconsin Highway Commission will run January 23 to 27 in Madison with special rail fare rates for attendees. Gov. John J. Blaine will give the welcome address, followed by sessions on maintenance, marketing, signing, and future road policies.

Sorrowful death tribute to Robert Wallace Nye

The Northsider in Minneapolis printed a tribute to Robert Wallace Nye son of Mr and Mrs Marshall Nye. While on a hunting trip he was accidentally shot in the brain during a scuffle with a boyfriend and died instantly. He was grandson of former Minneapolis mayors Robert Pratt and Wade G Nye.

Congress Gets Canal Reports Seeks St Lawrence Waterway

The International Joint Commission reports to Congress that a St Lawrence waterway linking the Great Lakes to the Atlantic should be ratified by Canada and the United States. It estimates $252 million for a 25 foot channel, $17 million more for 30 feet, plus $60 million for Welland canal improvements.
