John Stemic a Croatian worker at Wachsmuth Lumber camp north of Salmo died after a dray load of logs trapped him between the logs and a tree. He sustained hip fractures and internal injuries while on Monday morning duty. He died at Bayfield depot while awaiting transport to Ashland hospital. He left a wife and children in Croatia with a brother in Wyandott Michigan. The body rests at Amos M Hansen undertakers awaiting relatives' word.
