Dairy price reports show Milwaukee at 10 cents per quart for milk and 14 cents for cream, with Washburn still at 13 cents per quart for canned milk and 14 cents for bottled milk. Despite lower feed costs, Washburn dealers have not matched the drop, while some grocers try to cut prices locally to 12 cents per quart.

The Wisconsin Railroad Commission schedules a January 17 hearing in Madison on Washburn Electric Light and Power Company rules for electric extensions. The third annual Northern Wisconsin Grain Show held in Superior showcased Bayfield County farmers with 400 samples and many prizes. Bayfield entries earned seven firsts five seconds four thirds four sweepstakes with winners including Erickson Bros Port Wing Varley Pristash Cornucopia and Chas Chromasta Iron River. Ten counties participated with plans to rotate venues next year and move the best samples to La Crosse for state competition.
Bayfield County farmers report feeling gouged as they list top exhibitors and standings for crops and livestock. Names include Chas Chromasta Iron River Abe Anderson Barksdale Frank Fay Port Wing and Geo Keitinger Bayfield with entries in corn oats barley pop corn clover seed buckwheat and other varieties.
Captain and Mrs Nils Lee mourn the death of their son Bernard aged 41 at Mount Clemens Michigan hospital on January 1 after heart trouble. Born in Fredricksberg Norway he lived thirty years in this city and ran a Rhinelander business. He was generous to a fault and cared deeply for his parents, leaving a legacy of kindness and regular visits home. Funeral services are noted.
The Washburn Y team defeated the local high school 20 to 11 last Thursday in a wild game at the city gym. Scamfer starred for the Y squad, delivering a flawless performance, as the Hill boys earned credit for their hard play despite the loss. The Y team plans to travel to Hayward Saturday to face the American Legion team and hopes to bring back the honors.
The initial session of the Home Nursing course will meet in the Red Cross Room at the Public Library on Tuesday January 11 at 4 15 PM The hour change aims to help mothers with young children arrange care during class time About twenty women have signed up for the course which costs 4 for eight assignments to be owned by members Participants may join by applying through Dr Axley’s office
John Joanis, owner of a hotel and billiard hall burned in a recent disaster, plans a two story brick building with a basement bowling alleys heating plant and storage on the ground floor a billiard and pool business and barber shop on the first floor and offices on the second floor next to the B Ungrodt hardware store. Local merchants burned in the blaze plan to rebuild similarly.
The Bayfield County Bank stockholders will hold their annual meeting in Washburn Wisconsin on Tuesday January 11 1921 at 7 30 P M. The gathering aims to elect a board of directors for the coming year and transact any lawful business.
A funeral service will be held at St. Louis Catholic church Friday morning at 8:00 o clock. He is survived by his parents Mr and Mrs Nils Lee and by two sisters Mrs Joseph Arseneau of this city and Mrs Phil O Leary of Odanah. The community extends sympathy to the parents and sisters.
