Pioneer Settler Fred Swain Dies At 56 In Washburn
Fred Swain, a Washburn settler and former Swain House proprietor, died at his home Tuesday morning at age 56. Born November 12, 1851 in Germany, he moved to Wisconsin in 1858 and to this city 24 years ago. He helped build the Omaha Road, served as postmaster under Cleveland, and was known for hospitality and community service. He leaves one daughter, Miss Jessie Swain, and funeral services were held at his home, burial in Hudson. Ex-Speaker Lenroot announced a bid for Congress from the district. Jenkins may not run.

Mrs Die Aune aged twenty six died at home last night from la grippe after three years of poor health. Survived by husband and four children and other relatives. Funeral expected Sunday from the Norwegian Lutheran Church with interment in the Protestant cemetery.
Died at 79 in Illinois native David Evinger obituary
David K. Evinger died Tuesday night at his daughter Mrs. Q W Frost home after a two month illness. He was 79, a native of Illinois, came to live with his daughter about a year ago. Funeral services were held at his late residence and he was buried in the Protestant cemetery. The community offers condolences to surviving relatives.

W A Marshall Dies in Virginia After Ludington Move
W A Marshall formerly of this city now living in Ludington Michigan died in Williamsburg Virginia last Friday. He was buried at Ludington. Marshall was a well known lumberman and inventor of lumbering machinery in the middle states and served as Superintendent of the A A Bigelow mill here for several years. He died of heart failure.
