A 1910 Washburn harbor annual report by Custom Officer D W Corning shows a sharp rise in business. Lumber shipments and coal receipts increased with 174 boat arrivals and 274 927 tons of tonnage, nearly double last year’s figures of 97 arrivals and related tonnage. Coal iron pyrites and soda cargos are noted among shipments. The Stearns Lumber mill cut over 45 million feet, about 10 million more than the prior season, the largest on record. The plant plans a strong next season, with ice out and logs ready across the bay, followed by repairs after the holidays.

Ladies Aid funds remodel at Congregational church
To Improve Building The Ladies Aid society of the Congregational church have let the contract for remodeling the Congregational church. The work will include a new stairway lathing and plastering, toilet room and a partition or two. The furnace will also be changed around. The work is being done by Contractor James A. Sheridan.
