Ideal Home and a Bayfield County Primary Notice
A Home Circle column shares reader ideals of a balanced, Christian, educated home with love, order, and mutual respect. The piece contrasts a wholesome domestic ideal with a response about family, religion, and manners, then includes a Bayfield county notice: a September primary election in Washburn for numerous offices ahead of the November general vote. The notice lists offices and polling details for August 22, 1908.

It notes sharks and octopus rarely attack vessels, while devilfish and moray attacks are especially fearsome. The devilfish lives in Atlantic warm waters, weighs up to a ton and a half, and bears a barbed tail spike. The green moray, green in color, inhabits Bermuda waters and is described as extremely savage.
