The circuit court will commence in Ashland on Wednesday August 14 at 10:00 a m Judge Jounk K Parish presiding as circuit judge.
The Dynamiters defeated Barksdale in Ashland last Sunday. The game, played against Garland city’s strongest team, was tight until the eighth inning when Ashland surged for six runs. Final score 10 to 7 in Ashland’s favor.

Examinations for teachers certificates in Bayfield County will be held in Washburn at the Pioneer school building from August 12 to 15. The schedule lists 1st grade subjects on Aug 12, 2nd grade on Aug 13 and 14, and 3rd grade on Aug 15, with subjects including physics English literature U.S. history and more. First grade certificates valid five years, second grade three years, third grade one year. Bring pens. ink and paper provided.
Rev N C Hanson returned from Camp Cleghorn where he attended the Grand Lodge session of the Independent Order of Good Templars. The meeting was praised as one of the best in ten years and he was appointed Grand Chaplain for the coming year, with many delegates from state lodges in attendance.

The Congregational church Ladies Aid will meet at Mrs. Frank Tetzner’s next Wednesday afternoon. The M E Ladies Aid met at Mrs. Ned Wieman’s on Fourth street yesterday. a large number attended.
Washington reports the U S state department dismisses claims of Capt. Young and Canadians from Port Arthur to raise a British flag on Isle Royale Lake Superior. The 1842 treaty marks the boundary. Michigan laws govern trespass on private property. Isle Royale remains a game preserve and resort area for Chicago Milwaukee St Paul and Manitoba visitors.
The common council at Tuesday evening session passed an ordinance to bond the city for 15000. Bond sale planned soon and upon payment to Washburn Electric Light and Power Co the city will own all exterior electrical equipment of the company.
Leonard Swan seven year old son of Mr and Mrs Hans Swan residing in the Four Mile Creek district fell from a hay wagon Monday and broke his leg above the knee. A local physician set the bone and the boy is progressing as well as could be expected.
Mrs. Clarence Wright visits Bayfield Monday as Wm Olson and sister Mrs Thos Nevra arrive from Portland last Saturday. Olson will sell his interests here and move to Portland to reside permanently. Claim Agent Hill of the Omaha Railway has investigated Walter Olson injury from a hand car last Friday evening, with the railway company potentially named as defendant in a damage suit.
