Million and a Half Lumber Sale by John A. Jacobs

A large lumber sale was concluded yesterday afternoon as W. J. and B. J. Carney of Chicago bought Jacobs’s entire stock of dry hemlock and pine. Most lumber is dressed and cut ready for planer processing, with shipment to begin after planned mill startup in about two weeks. Dock timber order is about two thirds finished.

Norwegian Lutherans Hold Conference in Superior

The Conference of the Superior district of the United Norwegian Lutheran Church met in the city last week with about 225,000 in North America’s district. Attendees included J Horothiem Virginia Minn J D Runsvold Two Harbors Minn N B Tweet Duluth J Madsen Duluth J Liam West Superior J C Hougum West Superior Chas Fortham Ashland and C Michael son. Fire Hits Thompson Lumber Blacksmith Shop and Nearby Home

A Sunday night blaze destroyed the Thompson Lumber blacksmith shop with alarms sounding around 1:30 a.m. A nearby residence owned by D. M. Maxey and occupied by Mr. and Mrs. S. Arseneau burned yesterday afternoon. Maxey’s loss ran 500 to 600 dollars with 325 dollars insured. Arseneau family lost all household effects. they are described as poor and greatly affected.

Wedding of Andrew Brown and Adaline Dunning

Andrew Brown and Mrs Adaline Dunning were married Tuesday evening April 10 at the home of Mr Frank Dunning. Rev John Gibson officiated. May they enjoy many years of increasing happiness. Resolutions of Condolence were passed at Washburn Branch No 102 C E of Wisconsin meeting April 8 1900 mourning the death of Brother Peter Lessard. The branch extends sympathy to his widow and family and drapes its charter for thirty days. A copy of the resolutions will be sent to the widow and published in city papers.

New Town Board Debates Chief Post As Roads, Guards Named

At the first meeting of the new board Chairman McBeath clashed with Supervisors over who should be chief. Several patrolmen and officials were named or laid over for next session, including chief of police Ed Johnson and a push to curb gambling in saloons.
