Rescue at Center Lake Highlights Heroic Unswerving Aid
Last Monday morning two boys, George Bisel and Frank Gift, faced drowning while bathing at Center Lake. Rev. G. F. Byrer risked his life to reach them, pulling the smaller Bisel boy from deep water and aiding the Gift boy until both were saved. Dr. Shackelford treated the near-drowning boy. Byrer had no swimming ability yet acted decisively.
