250 Named in Presentments at Pittsburgh
The Allegheny county grand jury ended five weeks of graft probes by recommending indictments of more than 250 persons. Two aldermen, Patrick J. Cawley and George S. Wilson, plus Charles W. Collins head of the Children’s Service Bureau, and Alfred W. Forney the slot machine king were named. District Attorney Gardner said at least 250 indictments may be warranted after reviewing presentments based on testimony from more than 500 witnesses. The jurors urged continuing as a body of inquiry, saying only the surface had been scratched in western Pennsylvania’s worst law enforcement crisis.

Boiler Explosion Kills Three at Lumber Plant
In Ethel Mississippi an explosion at the O E Daniel lumber mill killed three men and fatally injured two others. The dead were Wilbur Raspberry 28 Ethel and E T Deaton 45 of Hamilton. Ed Carranegro Leon Deaton 19 and Elmore Lody 28 were seriously hurt and not expected to survive. The blast knocked workers away and hurled bodies over 75 yards as they sought relief from the cold.
