Fast winter weather moved into Wanren with rain and warmer air forecast to end tonight. A 3 am record 25 degrees above zero broke the season low, colder temps followed with ice at 31 degrees and a 43 degree reading by 2 pm. Rain is expected tonight and Sunday, then warmer conditions.
Washington dispatches indicate more than 2060 telegrams from Hidalgo County Texas urged President Coolidge to order federal supervision of the November election ballots. The White House referred the matter to the Department of Justice to decide on any federal action. No specific cause for the request is stated.
Jurors six men six women hear closing arguments as Louis Cicco, former dry agent, awaits fate for alleged assault on Betty Heywood, 22. Court adjourned. each side receives two hours for final address starting Monday morning.
Col Charles Lindbergh will commend Warren for a city roof sign under American Legion auspices. The sign on Bradford Supply at 415 Pennsylvania Ave West will read Warren with a north arrow for aviators. J B Allen will paint chrome yellow lettering 15 feet by several feet starting Monday.

A large parade will precede the speaking program with participation from West Virginia cities New Brighton and Wilkinsburg Pa. The Pennsylvania delegation will travel to Wheeling on a special train.
Harold C. Putnam, new Chief Cornplanner Post commander, met Friday with team captains to organize the 1928 American Legion membership drive. Donald E. McComas leads the effort, which runs November 2 to 8, with team lists and final meetings set for November 1 and 5.
Governor Alfred E. Smith speaks in Philadelphia this evening while Senator James A. Reed of Missouri speaks in Pittsburgh for the Democratic presidential candidate. Reed arrived from the west to Allegheny county Democrats and a downtown parade will precede his address after Smith’s radio reception at the theatre.

A Wabash railroad football special carrying University of Wisconsin students to the Michigan game in Ann Arbor crashed into a freight train near Helmer Indiana. Fireman A B Goshorn and Engineer A Mcalhaney of Montpelier Ohio were injured. two freight cars and a caboose derailed and burned. An emergency engine was sent to continue the trek to Ann Arbor, but arrival before game time was doubtful. The Kendallville dispatch later said the wreck passed through after the emergency engine. students were in high spirits and none reported injuries.
In Detroit on October 27 two brothers and their infants were among 13 patients rushed from Lincoln Hospital as a blaze from the boiler room spread across a 10 foot passage to the roof. Police and firefighters aided the evacuation. damage was about 10,000 dollars. Mrs Helen Stansel and her one day old daughter and Mrs Helen Blake with a six day old daughter were unhurt.

Licenses granted to Virgil Ray Perry of Warren with Jean Sullivan of Harrisburg, Oakley Francis Lynch with Ellen Josephine Henrikson of Tidioute, Wesley Allison Kinch of Kellettville with Jennie Eaton Lord of Corry, Clarence Harry Wilkinson with Florence Marguerite Jackson of Starbrick, and Gilbert William Treble of South Dayton with Beulah Henrietta Miller of Niagara Falls New York.
In Chicago a soft drink parlor operator, Peter Rizzutto, 85, was shot and killed in what police call the first reprisal for Tony Lombardo’s murder, a figure tied to the Aiello gang’s liquor supply. Rizzutto, who worked with Vincent Collouna, died after gunmen fired on him in front of his business as they fled by car. Lombardo was killed last August on a downtown street amid ongoing Aiello-Capone power struggles.
The Life Study Club of the Y M C A will hold its second meeting next Tuesday evening October 30.
