Captain Charles Kingsford-Smith and three companions launched from Oakland on the long delayed trans Pacific flight aboard The Southern Cross toward Honolulu. The seven ton monoplane carried 1200 gallons of fuel for the 7778 mile leg as it cleared Golden Gate under clear conditions.

Dairy Association Tour Plans Study of Improvement Program
McKean County Agricultural Extension Association members will tour Friday to study results of a dairy improvement program. The tour, led by W. D. Ward and O. C. Tritt, will use motor transport. place and start time to be announced. The program focused on better cattle breeding and long term goals. In Warren county, 22 employees received $20,000 from the late William P Herrman’s will, distributed at the mausoleum.

Opening sessions of a two day Pomona Grange meet began this morning in the Community house at Lander with 175 members registered at noon. State Grange Master E B Dorsett arrived to attend all sessions as Farmington Grange hosts visiting Grangers. Officials expect record attendance as discussions were planned and dinner was served at Grange Hall.

Fire at Lyric Hotel injures no one in Erie
Early morning blaze at the Lyric hotel on Pennsylvan ia avenue near Blarket Street forced twenty guests to flee the building. Private Howard McJunkin of the Pennsylvania State Highway Patrol, based in Warren, was injured near Kane while on duty. He received a four stitch head wound after his Indian motorcycle struck a curb while attempting to dodge a setter dog amid heavy traffic.
