Postcard Postage Cut to One Cent in Senate Bill

A senate conference report on the 16.285 million postal rate reduction bill was adopted. The bill restores the one cent postcard rate, lowers second class advertising rates, and sets a bulk rate for third class matter. Half crazed man rescued after 147 hours in mine

John Wade, a Negro miner at the Mather mine, was found after 147 hours in a shaft two and a half miles in, following a Saturday explosion that killed more than 170 workers. He was incoherent and exhausted but alive, while rescuers continued recovering bodies and seeking more victims.

Memorial Day observances mark Warren’s triple tribute

Memorial Day events in Warren begin with decorations at Oakland cemetery where 316 graves received flags by Boy Scouts and cemetery officials. A three day program continues tomorrow with a union service at First Evangelical church and Wednesday’s parade and exercises at Oakland cemetery. Scouts also decorated one hundred memorial trees in Crescent Park and read military histories inscribed on markers.

Glade School Plans Presented for $100000 Estimate

Preliminary plans for a new Glade grade school on the Lacy plot were shown and accepted by the Warren Board of Education.
