Benjamin Gregg a 45 year old auto mechanic from Kane was cleaning a shotgun at his home when it discharged and shattered his right foot. Officials say amputation will be necessary. Gregg worked at the Simonsen Fowler garage on Chase Street and was married with several children. The Kane Board of Education recently elected R D Welsh of Ford City Pa as superintendent of Kane public schools to replace the current leader, choosing him from 53 applicants. Welsh, a University of Pittsburgh graduate, had served 13 years as principal of Ford City school and left to take the Kane post to give his child, who has asthma, a healthier climate.

The estate of the late Judge W E Rice was awarded 10000 by a common pleas court today. Executors Homer M Putnam and J H Alexander sued the estate of Levi Clough to recover 15500 for legal services Rice rendered Mr Clough. Rice died November 17 1922 and Clough died May 12 1927. The suit involved a 501600 claim against Levi Clough with Edgcomb as plaintiff. A jury also awarded Granger and Company 867.52 against the Thomas Market for damages.
The body of Floyd Cross, drowned when a ferryboat capsized on November 17, was to be sought again today in the Allegheny River at Dunn's Eddy, three miles south of Irvine. His mother, Mrs. Bert Cross of Tidioute, ordered the search, reports say grappling hooks were sent from Oil City to aid the drag.

Borough Council passed the final reading of an ordinance to widen Pennsylvania Avenue between Conenango and Prospect streets this summer. A brick hurled by a Ohio Savings Bank and Trust Company employee struck a bandit during a bank heist in Toledo. The suspect fled after taking about $3,000 from Floyd Braey, branch manager, but the money was recovered shortly after.
A pair of women in 1920s style attire drew crowds in Warren on Tuesday as they window shopped wearing heavy garments and carrying bags marked with the number 82. Their second appearance followed a first sighting last Saturday, prompting local curiosity about their identity and purpose.

He hopes warmer weather will restore his arm to its usual form.
Francis Fonteri, 12, of Saybrook, was rushed to Warren General Hospital after being struck by motorist Andrew J. Phillips of Trumans, Forest County. Phillips stayed at the scene and reported the accident to state patrol Corporal Constantine. The boy, carrying a recently purchased loaf, suffered severe injuries. hospital notes indicate critical condition.
Borough Burgess Chapman intends to veto a daylight saving resolution passed last night unless a majority shows public support. Council may face a two thirds vote to overcome the veto. secretary Dougherty withholds publication until signature of the burgess.
