At midnight a sedan carrying four Youngsville High students collided with a hit and run vehicle at Fourth Ave and Hazel St in Warren. Ralph Bailey 16 was pinned under the car and freed by companions. Elmer Long 17 driver bruised, Walter Stephenson 16 and Walter Cooper also bruised but not seriously hurt. Car described as a Ford roadster. occupants aided by passing motorists.
A four man committee was formed at Scandia Grange Hall to work with Elk and Glade townships supervisors on road improvements. Warren County officials including Judge Mumford and Commissioners spoke on road legislation and securing funds. The appointees are Peter Nasman, Carl Peterson, John A. Rose, and Levi Erickson, with several attendees joining the Warren County Good Roads Association.
Two Warren Rotary Club members Fred McCoy of Viking Oil and W W Slocum of Bell Telephone plan to attend Rotary International's nineteenth annual convention in Minneapolis from June 18 to 22. McCoy and family will take a monthlong vacation, with a lake cruise featured at the meeting.
Senate continues discussion on a tax reduction bill while the Presidential Campaign Investigation Committee questions former Governor Lowden of Illinois. House considers minor bills.
Local forestry officials and volunteers battled multiple blazes in the district today led by District Forester H. B. Rowland. The Mayburg fire, reported at nine this morning, destroyed second growth timber and remained active at two o clock with about fifty men fighting it. Additional fires burned between Kellettville and Mayburg, at Mc Cray near Mallenville, and another below Torpedo, which was checked within a few hours.
At Espeyville crossing Crawford county investigators probed a collision where two autos struck a Pennsylvania locomotive killing eight people and injuring five. The Hays and Thomas families were involved with victims listed and the train delayed three hours to Erie. Coroner said crossing bell rang as cars sped toward the oncoming train.
Washington May 14 the house approved the conference report on the McNary Haugen farm relief bill and sent it to the senate for action after which it goes to the White House for signing or veto awaiting senate approval.
Reports from May 14 describe two American planes reaching Maitland Nova Scotia while en route to Greenery Island to recover the Bremen. Lieutenant Matt Fairchild, ill after arrival at St Johns, travels toward Boston for hospital care with Lieutenant Cobb and Lieutenant E R Quesada dispatched to New Brunswick to replace him.
Petitions circulated by the Izaak Walton League in Warren Youngs ville and Sheffield seek to close the open deer season next autumn. They argue a bucks only policy should prevail due to crop damage and deer overabundance, aiming to stock forests by restricting does. Walton supporters urge broad participation to build the petition list.

President Ray Steber urged members to help build a Warren County Boy Scout camp near Corydon with a full day of hard labor. An organization of military style roles was formed to ensure attendance on a May 28 timeframe. Cigar gifts celebrated a newborn in the Yeager family, and a nominating slate for next year’s directors was announced.
Three women incapacitated by illness were trapped by smoke in a fire at 108 Redwood Avenue. Mrs Whitton and Miss Guendell helped Miss Whitton from a second story to a veranda roof, aided by neighbor Arthur Anderson who lowered them to ground. Damage estimated at 1500 dollars. Fire began in the basement and several rooms were burned. Police report later a separate fatal crash in Steubenville killed Billy Smith, 20, and injured four others with driver Richard Jenkins charged with reckless driving.
