Charge Driver of Truck Failed to Use Due Caution
Carl Specht of Scandia failed to use due caution when he drove onto the New York Central crossing at Russell, injuring Mrs. Conrad Swanson of Priest Hollow who died. The coroners jury urged signals at the crossing and suggested trains be held farther south for better motorist visibility. Specht, not seriously injured, testified he was traveling ten miles an hour and did not hear a whistle or bell. He later said Mrs. Swanson asked him to wait for her, as they were neighbors.
