Sinclair tells lawmakers of unknown organizers in refining case
Sinclair, fugitive chairman of Mid-west Refining, said he did not know who organized the company or its later actions. He acknowledged advancing 233000 to former Interior Secretary Fall and 260000 to Will Hays to help pay off the 1920 deficit. The committee room was crowded with senators and officials’ wives as Sinclair, in a blue suit, entered with lawyers who had secured his prior acquittal. Meanwhile in Pittsburgh, about 20 000 families moved to new homes in the district for another year, paying a million dollars today.
