A sixty mile per hour gale struck Warren from the west on Monday afternoon. Trees toppled, store awnings ripped, and other damage occurred in the business district as residents sought shelter indoors. Hats blew east along Pennsylvania Avenue near Hickory Street as the wind reached its peak. Sunny return weather and warm temperatures followed, with many residents enjoying motor trips and a Sundaylike calm.

Luther Belmont Widmeyer of Berkeley Springs West Virginia and Bertha Belle Palmer of Spartansburg wed in the county courthouse after securing a license. Rev. E T Bamifan Gmtowent performed the ceremony in a commissioners office conference room as officials looked on. The couple left for an unknown destination, possibly Spring Creek, with no apparent luggage.
Charles Lindbergh planned to fly the Spirit of St. Louis to Washington to turn the plane over to the Smithsonian Institution. The flight neared Cincinnati today, with Lindbergh describing possible non stop timing and a stop for fuel en route, after a world tour in the famed aircraft.
About fifty children four to six years old slated for kindergarten or first grade were brought to the Fourth Ward school for a thorough physical exam as the first of five clinics during national child health week. Dr W Schmehl and Mrs Ann Wright supervised examinations to spot defects and advise remedial steps. Subsequent clinics will be held at Jefferson building Tuesday May 7, South Street Wednesday, Glade Thursday, and Fast and Central Friday with 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. sessions.
Curtis Leather company in Ludlow returns to a six day working schedule after a period of reduced hours last fall when the tannery operated four days per week due to dull times. The move restores full production pace amid improving market conditions.
