Oakland California June 28 two Pacific flight planes stood in stark contrast at dawn one a huge triple motor Fokker built craft to be flown by Lieuts Lester Maitland and Albert Hegenberger the other a smaller Travelair with a Wright Whirlwind engine piloted by Ernest Lovith and Charles Carter The Army craft carries radio beam navigation more fuel and a life boat while the Travelair relies on simpler devices and less fuel The two machines differ greatly in size weight and equipment as they prepare for a staged compare of capabilities

Investigators from the Citizens League search Pittsburgh and Allegheny County for William I. King missing since 2 p m yesterday. A letter signed William N. King claimed King would resign and alleged infighting within the league and a political motive behind its anti vice drive. King’s call to a Des Moines woman deepens the puzzle.

In Buffalo New York on June 28 thirteen planes started at one minute intervals for the 4000 mile national air tour to Geneva. The companion planes also lifted off. Weather was fair and pilots expected to reach Geneva around noon.
San Francisco June 23 At least ten merchant ships along the sea lanes from this port to Honolulu have been instructed to aid Trans Pacific pilots Lieut Lester Maitland and Ernest L Smith by radio. A network of radio links has been set up and captains are told to stay ready to offer services and to broadcast full details when the flyers are sighted or heard. Vessels will also signal latitude and longitude to the planes using signal flags.
The Warren General Hospital held its annual meeting to elect nine new directors to fill vacancies. The new board includes Mrs. Fred C. Eaton, Dr. D. S. Skeown, A. J. Eine, D. L. Verould, F. E. Logan, Ul, Mrs. Harriet E. Wallace, Flaten, and Dr. M. V. Ball. The twelve continuing directors and the complete board of twenty-one were listed, with an organization session set for 7 o clock to appoint a president, secretary, and treasurer.
Harrisburg June 28 Governor Fisher announced the appointment of Dr Edgar M Greene of Easton to the state board of medical education and licensure. Dr Irvin D Metzger is reappointed to the board, succeeding Dr Walter K Lee whose term expired. Dr Greene had backing from the State Medical Society and has served on the advisory board of the state health department. Captain John McIlhenny Smith of Harrisburg was named to the state board of examiners of public accounts to replace Grahan R Hurd.
Western Pennsylvania forecast shows fair and warmer conditions tonight with increasing cloudiness by Wednesday. Observations list 8 am readings from Atlantic City to Yellowstone Park, noting temperatures around 58 to 84 degrees and no precipitation.
