Muscle Shoals Deadline Near
Washington June 7 Today is the last day for President Coolidge to veto or sign the Muscle Shoals bill for government operation of the war time nitrate plant in Alabama. If he fails to act by midnight the bill will have a pocket veto status, while proponents say it will become law. Ten days have passed since Congress sent the bill to the president. It is unclear whether a bill acted on after a long session automatically dies or becomes law. It was not evident at the White House that Coolidge would sign the measure.
