Six armed bandits looted the Detroit Daily News cashier’s cage and fled with payroll cash, injuring traffic officer George Bearstead and patrolman Guyet Craig as they fired on the robbers. Loot estimated at about $9,000. bandits fled in a waiting car.
Pittsburgh June 6 Four men Carl Lucas Anthony Merino Frank Skalski and Charles Bower were indicted by the Allegheny county grand jury for the murder of hotel owner John Spehar in March Mrs Spehar the slain man s wife was held until after the arrest of Lucas Merino and Skalski who allegedly confessed to the crime as detectives pursued the case
Nicholas Karsten, 46, of Washington, Pennsylvania, was found dead from a self inflicted gunshot wound on an abandoned railroad siding near Monessen. A note on his body forgives his enemies and names the men he wished to honor as pallbearers.

James W. Good campaign manager for Herbert Hoover denied that the secretary of commerce’s forces spent 40 000 dollars in Texas. Fort Worth charges claimed 3000 to 4000 dollars were spent there as per a telegram from J M O'Hara secretary of the Republican state committee.
Eight missing Italian Alpine Chasseurs were found safe after eight days of interior search for the Italia crew near Spitzbergen. The Hobby reached Skeers Bay at 10 a.m. and located the Chasseurs who had only one week of food on their disembarkation from the Citta Di Milano at Mogsell Bay. The Braganza, chartered by Italy, arrived at North Cape to send a rescue squad across the ice. Main hope rests on these Chasseurs to reach and aid the Italia crew believed stranded on the island. Lieutenant Leutzow-Holm leads continued efforts.

South Carolina Republicans told the Republican National Committee at hearings that intrastate delegations were settled. Four at large delegates were seated, with the incumbents described as Lowden sympathizers. In Tennessee, one of two contested districts was reported settled, involving J. E. Adams and Tom Crutchfield Hoover men, leaving the tenth district as the remaining contest to be heard.
A thorough probe will examine Emmett Ponsoll accusation against Chief Hahn and Officers Britton Utter with Burgess Chapman absent.
