Police Chief George Hehn and patrolmen Laurie Utter and Charles Britton testified about a Saturday incident at the police station involving Emmett Ponsoll of 829 Fifth Avenue West. Chang Tso Lin near death after wounds in bombing

Four Indicted by Grand Jury in Bills Today
Four true bills were returned by the grand jury in quarter sessions court this morning. L. P. Foster was indicted for forgery passing a forged instrument and false pretenses. Hugh Foreman of Russell was indicted for burglary and larceny. H. K. Meade was indicted for driving while intoxicated and Mike Sveda was indicted for burglary and larceny. Foster forged signatures on a $62.54 check drawn on Warren Savings Bank. Foreman implicated in county store burglaries. Sveda allegedly stole a $75 steel range from L. M. Greenlee’s residence in May. Mead was arrested in Warren in April for intoxicated driving.

Big Attendance Reported at Vacation Bible School Fireside
Attendance at the Daily Vacation Bible School supervised by Rev. H. E. Dornheim rose to 11 Tuesday with 39 new students and five more teachers. Rain disrupted sessions and today the group met at First Presbyterian Church. Plans call for sections at Lutheran, Baptist, Methodist and Evangelical churches while the First Presbyterian faculty expands to 14 teachers and 98 scholars. Girls far outnumber boys 79 to 14. ten more teachers and five recreational directors are needed. In Cleveland Alfred G. Smith, 53, who rose from shipyard apprentice to president of the American Shipbuilding Company, died of heart trouble. He was born in Point Edward, Ontario, and directed shipyards in Buffalo, Detroit, Chicago, Superior, Cleveland and Lorain.

Captain Kingsford-Smith and three companions in the Southern Cross completed a 3,138 mile flight from Hawaii to Suva Fiji island. They landed after 34 hours 33 minutes airborne and will overhaul and recharge before the next 1,700 mile leg to Sydney. The crew received a grand welcome from natives, mayors, and governors, with ceremonies planned.
