Frankie Frisch piled up 11 assists at second base in a recent Giants game, nearing a major league mark. Other second sackers like Jimmy Dykes Derrill Pratt and Joe Gedeon have logged 12 assists in a game. Dave Bancroft adds infield twists with Dus Farrel at second and Eddie Moore at third. Fournier or Burrus may start at first as the Yankees close in on the American League pennant while remaining in the .700 class.

Along the English Channel coast a revival of smuggling is reported in isolated hamlets and villas. Local history notes smuggling legends from old days as government patrols falter due to poor supervision, allowing large scale activity despite coastguard efforts. References to bank credit and a film location aside do not alter the central smuggling trend.
