Indianapolis July 15 United Press reports Jackson sold a saddle horse and gear to D C Stephenson for 2500 dollars, tying the check to his gubernatorial campaign funds. The same horse, once ridden in Ku Klux Klan parades, is cited as had by observers familiar with the Jackson stables.
River polca tows the Ohio while detectives scour Pittsburgh seeking Jack Naylor 25 who leaped from the Homer Smith during a boat fight. A witness says he reached shore and climbed to safety but searchers doubt the claim as lights failed to locate him.

Honolulu reports the City of Oakland crew warning they are running out of gasoline over the Pacific. Intercepted wireless calls urge rescue planes and tugs while Wilhelmina and Pelican move toward the last known position about 700 miles northeast of Honolulu.
A bottle found on Wangeroog Island in the North Sea contained a letter allegedly signed by Nungesser and Coli, both missing French aviators. The note claimed they were "without dread and without water" on a little Atlantic island, with a crude map pointing west of Bermuda.

St Andrews Scotland July 15 Bobby Jones won the British Open for the second year in a row with a 286 total seven under par the lowest 72 hole score in the event. He led from the start posting a 68 in round one and finished with a 37 final round after a 73 morning.
William L. King, head of the Citizens' League of Pittsburgh, defends the group as educational reformers. He says the league seeks to stop collusion between vice and city government and to expose double dealing by city departments, particularly the police. King also denies Jackie Klein's accusation that he took a $22,500 bribe to abandon his work.
Washington notes six guards protect Philadelphia and Allegheny ballots as two western senators push for immediate collection of all ballots to permit a recount of the 1926 senatorial race. Sen. David Reed seeks authorization to empty 4,800 boxes to reclaim $25,000 in equipment for the September primary.
United Press reports extreme temperatures across the East push heat deaths past 110 with about 75 directly due to heat. Harrisburg and Reading see brief relief from showers and storms. New York records eleven more heat deaths and six drownings as the metropolitan total nears 31.
Off Nantucket four miles from shore the Holland American liner Veendam collided with the freighter Sagaland. Sagaland's crew of about 25 were saved except one. Veendam carried 655 passengers from Rotterdam to New York. Sagaland was loaded with general cargo from Boston.
Former ambassador to France and Italy Henry White died at 3:80 am today at Elm Court Lenox after an operation yesterday. He headed the U S peace delegation at Versailles and is survived by wife Emily Vanderbilt White daughter Countess HermannScheet Thoss and son John Campbell White. Funeral at Trinity Church Lenox Sunday 3 pm interment National Cathedral Washington.
Harrisburg July 15 An estate estimated at between 300 000 and 500 000 was disposed of in a will of two brief paragraphs by the late W Harry Baker secretary of the Republican state committee and secretary of the state senate The entire estate was bequeathed to Baker s widow About 300 000 of the estate is in personal property.
In Pittsburgh on July 15 a gang of African American men marched along Center avenue shooting at a man and attacking others after a shooting affray. Walter Black, 36, wounded and hospitalized. Twenty-two suspects detained at Center avenue police station.
Governor John S Fisher visited the Pennsylvania National Guard camp at Mt Gretna on July 15. He toured the field with General Martin, spent the night under canvas, and pledged administration support while signaling a possible camp move to accommodate the 28th division’s training needs.
A leaderless mob rioted near the parliament buildings in Vienna and set fire to the court house after destroying ministry of justice records. Police reports over 100 injured, six dead, and crowds filling city hall as military and police used machine guns to restore order.
