Six Hurt In Kane-Sheffield Highway Crash

Six persons, including a Warren resident and two ex locals, were injured Friday when their car skidded on the Kane Sheffield road four miles from Kane and slammed into a bank. Lee A. Peiro, a truck driver, escaped with minor injuries. others listed include Harry Streik, 35, with a crushed wrist and cuts. his wife, 38, with a broken arm and cuts. Myrtle Tuttle, 35, with cuts. Lane Wise, 58, with a broken right arm and five broken ribs. and Osear Westerberg, 29, with cuts and bruises. The group was en route to Warren for a birthday party for Emmett Ferro’s mother. The driver claims another car forced them off the road. that vehicle did not stop.

New curbside post office eases Warren traffic

Postmaster K. M. Lyons introduces a curbside mail drop at the corner of Pennsylvania Avenue and Market Street. Action Delayed on Johnson Bill

Washington February 3. Action on the Johnson resolution for investigation of the bituminous coal strike will be delayed indefinitely. Chairman Watson of the senate interstate commerce committee said the calendar is jammed. Johnson seeks immediate relief for suffering in Pennsylvania and West Virginia coal fields, with likely consideration within the next two months.

Demonstration of Insulator Effect At Railway Station

A Pennsylvan ia Electric Company demonstration used a guinea pig to test insulator effectiveness at the railway fright station on Pennsylvania avenue. J N Lewis of Mine Safety Supply Company and Joseph of the Pennelee Mines led the demo with about 100 attendees, 66 from the utility, observing a carbon monoxide gas exposure and revival apparatus now part of the company’s emergency equipment.

Fire devastates Fall River heart in massive blaze

A massive fire swept through Fall River Mass killing two blocks of business and industrial buildings including Pocasset Mills Rialto theatre and City Hall. Twelve people were seriously hurt and 250 treated for minor injuries as 500 firefighters aided by volunteers battled freezing winds through the night. Officials said 5 000 to 10 000 workers were left jobless as more than half a square mile burned. The blaze began at 7 PM and was controlled by dawn with danger deemed past though portions remained alight.
