Girl saves pennies to aid search for Miss Doran
In Caro Michigan August 25 a small town prays for Miss Mildred Doran a beloved fifth grade teacher missing after a flight toward Hawaii. Local children like Marjorie Moore save pennies and dream of aiding the search while townspeople recount Doran’s kindness and the hopes of her pupils. An airplane once circled above Caro with the idea of a rescue, but residents grimly accept the danger of the Pacific search.
