Art Goebel and Harry Tucker completed a nonstop flight from Los Angeles to Curtiss Field in 17 hours 68 minutes aboard the Lockheed Vega monoplane Yankee Doodle, lowering the transcontinental record previously set by MacReady and Kelley. The flight, planned as prep for the transcontinental derby, averaged about 142 mph with 450 gallons of gasoline aboard.

Mrs Arthur P Weis and her father John Krebs of Williamsport Pa remained in Warren General Hospital Monday recovering from injuries after a car driven by Weis left the road at the New York Central crossing and caught fire. Mrs Maisie Mummaw Trout Run Pa was discharged Sunday with a fractured wrist while Weis husband left hospital after burns. County Treasurer Gene Waid said five to six hundred special due licenses have been issued due to high demand.
