HONOLULU August 13 Arthur Goebel will use his share of the $35,000 Dole prize to buy a house and a jet for his parents. He said the prize proves that the flight can be made by any properly equipped aviator and would have pursued the goal regardless.
Rain fell as leaders and residents of Wheaton Illinois paid final tribute to Judge Elbert H Gary head of United States Steel. The Taneral service at Gary Memorial Church drew hundreds with eulogies praising his business ethics and leadership. The procession moved to Wheaton Cemetery where the family mausoleum held a brief service. National figures attended among them James A Farrel Lewis Nixon and W J Clyde.

London Aug 18. Airmen Minenta and Col Lastre Faraties arrived at Cyaontirdine today in the Fokker Mdfieptana used for the planned North Atlantic flight. They left Amsterdam at 7 30 a m and landed at 12 35 p m after a briefing stop over.

A neutral policy will protect Americans in Shanghai ports while not hindering Chinese aspirations. Authorities cite disintegration of Hankow and Nanking governments and the need for unity among rival leaders to halt southern advances toward Shanghai.
Washington Aug 18 Forty two navy vessels hunt for the overdue San Francisco Hawaii planes Misa Doran and Golden Eagle with Miss Mildred Doran aboard. Destroyers submarines and three carriers circle from Honolulu to San Francisco area aided by Langley and Arcox air support while Rear Admiral Thomas Washington says no reports from the Golden Eagle have been received and the search could last a week or more.
A western Dakotas to Canada high pressure brings fair and cooler weather in the western plains and Rockies and across Canada. Yesterday’s storm moved from the middle Mississippi Valley to Virginia, causing light to moderate showers in the northern plains and areas east of the Mississippi River. Observations show temperatures ranging from the 40s to 86 with low river levels and a 0.145 inch precipitation reading.
