Fire at Seneca Plant Causes Half Million Dollar Damage

A Sunday morning fire at United Refinery's Seneca plant caused about 500000 dollars in damage with no deaths. The blaze started in the chilling tank and pump house after explosions and required about two hours to control. Fire departments from Warren Clarendon Pleasant Township Russell and Youngsville plus volunteers and refinery workers fought the flames amid a spreading heat hazard. Foam was used to dampen the fire and nearby facilities were protected. Investigators cite undetermined origin and rebuilding will begin immediately.

Fire injures few as crowd watches riverfront blaze

Spectators lined the river road and crowded the cemetery as a blaze burned nearby. Six employees escaped uninjured: Edwin Stewart, Martin Anderson, Arvin Soderberg, Fred Leonard, Earl Samuelson, and Joe L. Hennessy. Firemen treated three for burns: Dave Main, Elmer Fitzgerald, and Walter Main. No serious injuries reported.
