Kahkwa swimmers dominate Conewango meet and more local sports notes
Kahkwa Country Club defeated Conewango Valley 133 to 79 at Erie with Jackie Doebler winning two firsts and a second in girls under 10. Tim Donovan and Linda Werner plus Mary Lauffenberger added wins, while Doug and Bill Walters finished 1 2 in 50-yard breast stroke. Pat Madden set a 31.6 pool record in the open breast stroke. two relay wins also occurred. The CVCC next hosts Moon Brook in Warren pool next Sunday at 2 p.m. In racing, Hyle Russell won the 50 cap Mid-Season Championship at Stateline, with Jim Scott and Marv Thorpe also noted. Jalopy Championship race set for Aug 4 at 100 laps with 50+ cars expected. Martin Osmann’s 52-inch catch lead in Ashville Bay tops Collins contest. Jamestown Dukes football candidates include Jim Tinelli and Jim Slate as drills start, with opener Aug 27 in Massillon and league play Sept 2 vs Lockport Essos.

Kiwanis All-Star Games Set For August 20 at War Memorial Field
Warren Kiwanis Club and Hot Stove League announce the annual All-Star games on August 20 at War Memorial Field. A 35‑member committee led by Bob Lundberg unveiled five divisions Bantams Midgets Cadets Intermediates and Juniors. Hot Stove players can earn a Pittsburgh Chicago trip by selling 20 tickets or a Warren High School football season pass for 10. Tickets available from Ken Washington at Service Hardware in the 400 Block. Proceeds fund Warren County youth welfare and related programs.
