Two workers were hospitalized after a flash fire at the Deluxe Metal plant last Saturday. George Brunner aged 51 and Floyd Fox sustained burns, with Brunner in serious condition but reported improving. minor equipment damage was noted.
In Warren County Court House Norman Moon 27 of Connellsville shot Judge Allison D. Wade and others before surrendering after a pursuit. Wade died minutes after the second shot at close range. Moon, facing a non support appeal, wounded District Attorney Meyer Kornreich and attorney Harold Hampson before fleeing. he shot himself as police closed in. Wade, born 1902, had deep ties to the county, leaving a wife Ruth and daughter Noel.
Fifteen FFA boys from this area travel to Harrisburg this week for the Pennsylvania Farm Show and FFA Convention. The group includes Ronald Putnam, Max Smith, Elwood Dean, Charles Fehlman, Rodney Rowland, and others with instructors Robert Albright of Brokenstraw Valley Joint School and Karl Flowers of Tionesta.
Leslie Spicer and Firth join Howard Jones alongside instructor Richard Farrer from the Northern Area Joint School as part of a planned educational collaboration.
