Council Postpones Real Estate Tax
The Warren borough council met in special session to vote on a real estate tax for 1956 but opposition caused it to pass on only one reading. Several council members voiced concerns about fairness and legality, with more action expected at the next meeting and the tax likely not in effect until mid January. The council also made appointments and set downtown parking hours for December. The Homemaker of Tomorrow program seeks Warren high school girls for a $1500 scholarship and a national tour, with a $5000 General Mills prize for the All American winner.
