Warren prepares for Memorial Day with detailed parade plans for May 30. Posts, bands, and local organizations coordinate grave decoration at Gladerun Indian Hollow Yankee Bush and more. Burgess Peirce calls for business closures 2 to 5 PM to honor the fallen.
A large Sunday morning audience praised Florence MacNett of Warren for her Renditions of Radiant More and Fear Not Ye O Israel. The Kane Republican notes the singer’s swift popularity and期待 for future appearances.
An explosion of gas at the kitchen stove in Rev Frank Nelson's Jefferson street home last Tuesday forenoon severely burned his wife on hands arms and face and nearly destroyed the house. Firemen saved furniture and adjoining houses. The house owned by J C Thomas carries 1500 insurance. Charles Gardette an Italian was bound over to court to answer a serious charge filed by Lena Morelli.
The store will be closed all day and evening of Memorial Day May 30. It will be open Friday evening until 10 50.
George Grosch and Hazel Loree both of Warren Pennsylvania were married in Jamestown New York on May 20 1903 by Reverend James G Townsend.
Several brief obituaries from Warren and nearby towns record deaths in May 1903. Cecelia Nelson of Prospect Street died after a long illness and was buried in Chandler's Valley. Dennis Maher left a wife, two daughters, and a sister. Charles Gustafson, of Dew Drop, died after an accident at Warren Emergency Hospital and was buried in Oakland Cemetery. William S. Thompson of Tidioute died after a month of blood poisoning. William W. Briggs of Russell died at 69. Mrs Vern Page of Dagall, daughter of Charles Price, died at about 20 years.
May 21 1903 marks the births of a son to Mr and Mrs John W Masterson and a daughter to Mr and Mrs Arthur Young in the local notices.
Memorial Day excursion offer via Pennsylvania Railroad. Round trip price two dollars. Tickets valid on the Warren train at 7.55 am and on a special Corry train.
Market notice lists 1000 yards of cloth in 30 shades for cash only sold by Jacob Keller. Also ads for seed corn at 80c a bushel, and a job listing for a boy with the Children’s Aid Society. Local officials appointments and Odd Fellows meeting announced.
