Liberty Bell Ready to Start West Exposition Trip

The Liberty Bell is prepared for its journey to the San Francisco Exposition beginning July 5 with a steel spider device inside to support the rim. The clapper is locked in a City Hall safe and may be replaced on return, while route plans call for a cross country path through seventeen Northern states. Hon Wilton Lindsey Dies at Johns Hopkins Hospital

Prominent Warren County lawyer and jurist Wilton M. Lindsey died at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore after a prolonged illness. Born June 8 1841 in Pine Grove township he served as county superintendent of schools and judge of the Thirty first Judicial District. He leaves two wives Emma Sherman and Julia Steiger, one son Edward Lindsey, a legislator, plus a brother and a sister. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church in Warren.

Mrs Konopka Freed After Hearing In Murder Case

Mrs Mary Konopka widow of Michael Konopka was freed as Judge Criswell found insufficient evidence of guilt regarding her alleged murder of her husband. The hearing in Franklin followed her Corry arrest by state police two weeks earlier. The case hinged on motive and disputed testimony from police and the defendant who testified of an assault in her kitchen. Insurance policies totaling 1144 dollars were presented as part of the proceedings.
