Vienna reports Emperor Francis Joseph resisting doctors advice to leave for a warmer climate. He wants to stay in the capital, hoping to avoid abdication and continue hunting and outdoor life as crowds pray for his recovery.
Franklin June 16 William James 48 manager of the American House in Oil City was fatally injured in an automobile accident yesterday. He died in a Franklin hospital after the crash on a narrow road near Franklin when he attempted a turn and drove over a steep bank. The car overturned and crushed the driver.
Seven men were burned to death and 20 seriously injured when 80 people were trapped in a Milford Armenian lodging house. The blaze started in the dining hall and forced occupants to jump from windows as escape via stairways failed. The half century old building, once a shoe factory, was oil impregnated and heat prevented firemen from entering. None of the dead or injured had families.
