On a moving Trans American trip Marjorie stops the train to save Snoozbums the dog after he falls from a window. Mallory feigns calm while the conductor berates the incident, and Marjorie defends the dog and lashes at Mallory. The couple quarrels amid the chaos, clinging to pride and love.
On a desolate observation car Marjorie mourns the lost Trans American with Snoozbums in her arms while the conductor faces her with ironic thanks. Ira Lathrop bursts in celebrating a grand party as Mallory watches in cynical detachment and Little Jimmie Wellington intervenes.
