Woodrow Wilson of New Jersey is named as Democratic candidate for President with Thomas R Marshall of Indiana listed as Vice President running mate. The ticket presents a national leadership pair for the party ticket.
In Baltimore on July 3 the Democratic Party nominated Governor Woodrow Wilson of New Jersey for president on the 46th ballot with 990 votes after a long session. Governor Marshall of Indiana won the vice presidential nomination on a night marked by many names and broad party unity.
The 45th ballot produced 633 votes for Wilson signaling his nomination for president. In the governor’s residence the scene grew electric as reporters cheered and secretary Tumulty relayed news to Wilson. Wilson calmly accepted the moment and urged party unity amid heavy responsibility and gratitude. Messages of congratulation from Champ Clark Oscar Underwood and Governor Marshall followed.

Pittsburg July 3 Joseph Robinson aged 100 walked into the Center avenue police station and asked Judge Alpern to secure employment. He said he slept outdoors last night and wanted a place to sleep. The judge noted Robinson had once been a top glass cutter and suggested rest. Robinson offered to return to glass cutting, but the judge sent him to Marshall Lea, the county home.
Grover Cleveland Furl of Harrisburg will face a manslaughter charge at the next court term for the death of W A Reed in a Providence hill accident near Eagleville. A coroner's jury found the auto driven recklessly by Furl caused the crash into a trolley car. Reed died and Furl was injured. jury urged trolley stops or signal at the crossing.
Warrants issued at Costello Pa by Justice Olmsted for George C Bayless Stanley Bayless and F N Hamlin of Stanley Bayless Pulp and Paper Co charging public nuisance through sewage pollution in the river killing fish hazardous to health and destroying property Hamlin apprehended while Bayless and Bayless are believed in Binghamton hearing set for July 3.
Olin West a former Fort du Pont private was arrested in Hazleton on charges of stealing watches from army comrades and obtaining 500 dollars by false pretenses. The alleged robberies occurred last March while West was employed as a watchman at the Harleigh colliery and he was to marry Catherine Swinesburg of Milnesville today.
Early today tremors were felt in Trani Noggia and Cerignola in Apulia Southeastern Italy. The frightened population fled churches and schools but officials reported no damage.
