Van Doorns to Leave Warren for Titusville Iron Works

Warren residents learn Mr. and Mrs. R. F. Van Doorn will move next month as he assumes charge of the sales department at the Titusville Iron Works. His resignation as Struthers Iron Works general manager takes effect February 1, 1903 after a long tenure since 1884.

Burglars Caught After Bold Home Invasions

Last week two men robbed Warren homes at Marshall and Waters residences. Joseph Riley and George Haley were arrested after jewelry and clothing were found on them and jailed awaiting March trial. Marshall and Mrs Waters reported missing gold chain ring cuff-buttons and stick pin.

New Warren Directory by Ward and Hertzel Promised Next Month

The Directory of Warren and vicinity is in the binder’s hands and will be issued next month. It includes an alphabetical list of residents 16 and over, a street and block directory, a classified business directory with institutions, churches, and societies, plus lists of residents in Ackley through Youngsville.

Funeral Held for Glenn Magee and Wife on Hertzel Street

The Magee and spouse funeral occurred last Friday from their Hertzel Street home followed by burial in Oakland Cemetery in a single grave. Rev. Smith and Rev. Delaplaine officiated as relatives and friends attended in large numbers. Administrators and guardianship actions proceed as D L Gerould is named administrator of Glenn Magee's estate and Darius Magee will assist on Mrs Magee's estate with a court guardianship for the two children to be appointed next Monday. The children will move to Peoria with Mrs Magee's parents, and the Magee jewelry store remains closed while affairs are settled.

Centuries-Old Book Highlighted By Local Collector

C M Dalrymple of 465 East Main Street owns The Scholars Arithmetic published in 1801 by Adams and Wilder of Leominster Massachusetts. The volume was a gift from his grandfather Mark C Dalrymple Warren county’s first sheriff and its 1805 cover was crafted by Mark Dalrymple’s mother when he was six.
