Warren Shakespeare Club Holds Twenty Sixth Annual Meeting
The Warren Shakespeare Club gathered about 55 attendees at the Jamiesons on Market Street for its twenty sixth annual meeting. An elaborate 6:30 pm dinner preceded a theater program in the home’s third floor hall featuring sketches, farces such as The Dress Suit and A Pair of Lunatics, a Tuesday hostess monologue, a character song, shadow pantomimes, and musical numbers by Klar’s orchestra.

Is a Hen a Bird
In a Washington note a citizen asks if a hen counts as a bird under the Payne tariff. The Treasury secretary sent the question to the customs division after noting that bird eggs are free while ordinary eggs are taxed. The customs division has already ruled that frog legs are poultry.

Dr W H Hay of Youngsville and J A Day of Youngsville were in Warren on Friday and Monday respectively. Miss Margaret Hegerty visited friends in St Marys, and J Edwin Swanson also spent time in Warren last Thursday. Old Capitol Clerk Scott Found Dead in Harrisburg
John E. Scott long served as a capitol clerk and Board of Public Grounds and Buildings secretary. He was discovered in a bathroom at the home of Bd. A. Armpriester and died of apoplexy. Scott’s death marks the sixth linked to capitol graft cases.
