Wounded New York Mayor William Gaynor remains at St Marys Hospital in a stable condition as X rays show a bullet split in two after entering the jaw and floor of the mouth. Doctors postponed surgery citing limited danger of blood poisoning due to careful treatment and bullet fragmentation.
Mayor Gaynor remains conscious after being shot on the Kaiser Wilhelm der Grosse promenade deck. Doctors report the bullet lodged near the base of the tongue while a second wound in Commissioner Edwards’s arm is superficial. Gallagher, jailed in Jersey City, says he would have killed the mayor if given the chance.
Thieves broke into the Tinton jail last night and stole 12 barrels of bottled beer seized by the city. This is the third theft, and Mayor Bennington ordered that all liquor confiscated be emptied into the gutter.

A well delivering 1 000 barrels of oil daily was drilled on the J M Sheridan farm near Bristoria Greene county by Sheridan Oil and Gas Company backed by Waynesburg men. The well struck in Gordon sand, gushed to the top of the derrick, was contained with difficulty and directed into two tanks. A larger tank is under construction. It is Greene county’s largest oil well and among Bristoria field's biggest. The company holds leases on about 500 acres in the area.
