Man Killed In Explosion At Bradford Nitro Plant
One man died and another escaped with minor injuries when the Du Pont Nitro glycerine factory near Howard Junction, Bradford, exploded. John Sloan was killed. Thomas McCann, inside the canning house, survived. The blast levelled the building leaving only a ground hole and body fragments. Sloan left a widow and three sons with one daughter. The cause remains unknown.
