At an adjourned City Council meeting last Friday night a Warren Pennsylvania firm received a ten year exclusive gas pipe franchise. The contract requires test wells to depth of 3000 feet within or near the borough and timely laying of pipes to furnish gas to residents.
Warren high school announced Eddie Hue, 17, scored 903.42 points out of 1000 in the naval academy exams, with Earl Dankle 16, second at 887.25. Six others from Oil City and Tidioute failed medicals or did not pass, while Dankle may serve as alternate. both praised as bright, industrious teens.

Jay Shearman former Warren County resident died April 13 1903 at Gowanda New York the oldest son of Perry and Martha Shearman born March 24 1829 Corydon township He left a daughter and three grandchildren survived by two brothers and four sisters He served as postal clerk on the D A V P railroad from 1873 to about 1890 His long illness spanned three and a half years and his family cared for him with affection He was a man of fine memory and oratorical powers and found rest in Christian faith.
