Catholic Church consecration at Elk township noted
The new Our Lady of Sorrows church in Elk township was consecrated on Sunday the 20th by Bishop T Mullen with aid from Rev Thomas Lonergan and Rev M A De LaRoque. About five hundred attended. the building is a handsome wooden structure praised by local Catholics and neighbors.

General Convention opens in New York with invited bishop
The General and biennial Protestant Episcopal General Convention will meet at St John s Chapel in New York City on October 7. Rt Rev George Augustus Selwyn of England will preach the opening sermon. The convention governs the Episcopal Church in the United States, with 49 bishops and 328 clergy and lay deputies.
