John G Loungren of Jamestown stood trial on grand larceny charges for allegedly misappropriating 1050 as treasurer of the Swedish orphanage. Excitement over Horton Crary well near Shefield and Saybrook
In Northramexpon Pennsylvania on October 25, Horton Crary & Co drilled on lot 280 between Shefield and Saybrook. The well reached sand at 1700 feet, deeper than Clarendon wells and near Cherry Grove depth. It filled with overflow before packing, the stem dropped atop the packing. The firm has leased nearby land and begun development this week, lost fishing jars, and faces a challenge to locate them. Estimates vary from 300 to 500 barrels or possibly a thousand once the sand is reached.

In Cronin case Cronin jury completed this afternoon in Curonao. State's attorney seeks two day adjournment to craft prosecution plan.
