Humorous Burial Plans and a Town Tale
The narrator recalls a joking yet reverent account of a deceased man who dictated his funeral style preferring simplicity over show. The tale includes bemused neighbors, a plain coffin, and the man’s wish to avoid ostentation, plus a Dubuque Times anecdote of a fire night lock mishap ending with a comic homecoming.
