In a dim tale of a theatre incident, Stericker recounts to a confidant how an opera glass crash was no accident but Arabella’s plan to punish him. He reveals a chain of losses: Arabella’s front tooth used as a pendant tooth-stud, his artificial eye, and his need for plaster after a near-fatal strike.
