Hay Not to Resign Rumor Denied by Vilas
May 18 in Wasumerux reports say First Assistant Postmaster General Hay would resign due to health but Postmaster General Vilas says Hay’s health has greatly improved and he expects to be in Washington soon. Vilas declined to discuss Pennsylvanian Matcuker speculation and stressed only Hay’s status.

Relief for the Needy Report of May Meeting
The Relief Association met at the president's home on Monday at 4 p m. Mrs R P King chaired. In the past month sixteen clothing articles were received and thirty four disbursed three cords of wood furnished nine families aided. Funds are exhausted with about $10 debt though benevolent contributions aided groceries and other essentials. Mrs Jane Orr provided groceries and dairy, Mrs Frank Henry flour butter and buckwheat, others supplied bread sugar potatoes and more. Sickness will keep some families under care through summer. In a bold ruse Policeman Utter pretended to enforce sidewalk rules to trap Brown, who had been sought since February for mayhem and was thought to be in Warren. Brown cooperated, was found at a house, and agreed to accompany Utter to Olean for detention.

Sunday School Convention in Warren 1885 Opens Plans
The Warren County Sunday School Association announces its fourth annual convention to be held in Warren on June 15 and 16 1885 under State Secretary E Payson Porter of Philadelphia. He aims to present Pennsylvania as a Banner State at the International Congress in Chautauqua in August. Further details will follow and all county Sunday Schools are urged to attend. Notes from the Field report Brown Bros on Irvine flats in Glade shot Monday with a 50 minute flow and substantial gas and oil shows. Parker No 1 at Kinzua began pumping after releasing salt water and may yield 15 to 20 barrels. No 2 remains a heavy gas and spray oil. A new gas black factory near Warren by Albert Kerberger will supply gas black for Germany and Europe, boosting Warren's economy and spotlighting local capital.

New Methodist Church Work Soon To Begin
The new Methodist Episcopal Church building project will start in a few days. The old structure will be abandoned next week and services move to the courthouse a week from Sunday.
