Obituary for Hon. Peter P. Cornen of Ridgfield
Prominent financier and public servant Peter P. Cornen died yesterday morning between six and seven. He was 78 and survived by two sons Cyrus A. of Warren, Pa, and Denis of Jamestown, N. Y. Born in New York City in 1815, he built wealth in real estate in New York, oil in Venango County, and gas ventures, becoming a millionaire before enduring the Panic of 1873. He held roles in the Ridgfield Savings Bank and the Kiwanis and New York Arctic Railroad Co., served in the New York State Senate and House, and supported Democratic causes. Funeral services are at St. Stephen’s church, Ridgfield, with Odd Fellows rites at the grave. Interment at Ridgfield Cemetery.
