Sea serpent in Warren Water Works pipes shocks town
A strange cross of sea serpent and alligator was found in Warren Water Works pipes near the big boilers of Struthers Wells & Co. The seven inch creature died on removal and is on display. A second alligator was later recovered from a pipe in Hickory street. The episode follows widespread tanbark pollution clogging pipes and causing faulty water flow and mechanical trouble across Warren, with residents reporting mud in taps and flooded homes.

Temperance Meetings in Russell Spark Strong Attendance
In Russell the temperance meetings at the M E church began Sunday Jan 11 led by W H Clark of Irvington. Four lectures attracted large crowds and 103 Russell residents now wear the red ribbon. Clark denounced saloon keepers and landlords, drawing sharp rebuttals from local supporters who defend small operators. The meeting featured Mr A J Marah owner of a lerry house who does not sell alcohol.

A Consortionist's Wedding at Oil City Opera House
John Flatow a member of Pullman's Dime Museum Company now touring Erie married Miss Nattie Gray of Meadville at the Oil City Opera House Monday after the show. Since no clergyman could be found to wed on stage Alderman Stevens performed the ceremony. Flatow known as Prince Flatow is a renowned contortionist.
