Terrible cyclone wrecks Philadelphia area and Delaware River towns
A devastating cyclone swept Monday along the Delaware River striking Philadelphia near Greenwich Point and crossing into New Jersey. It wrecked a steamboat and ferry, killed a man at the American Dredging Company wharf, fatally injured Harry Stephens, and unroofed scores of Camden homes. Across the river Richmond and Anerox suffer extensive damage to dwellings and property with several injuries and a 10 year old girl killed at 1721 Mellville street. Nearby Anerox reports 300 feet of destruction, but no lives listed.

News from GarrieLD reports Irvine Kitlinger, once a resident, was accidentally shot by Lon Gilson while adjusting a 45-75 Winchester rifle. The ball shattered both legs, entering below the knee and passing through the left thigh muscle. Dr. Pryor treated the wounds. the injured man was reported in pain relief and improving.

Brown ends life after business reverses near Missionary Ridge
Henry W. Brown of Chattanooga committed suicide following Brown Bros. Co. failures and creditor pressure. He had moved to Chattanooga for health, bought a farm at Missionary Ridge, planned a home, and later swallowed belladonna after his wife found a razor. His body was found in the woods at Missionary Ridge foot. He will be buried in Oakland Cemetery. Services were held at A. Ht. McKelvey’s residence with Rev. Painter officiating. fraternal groups arrived but did not march due to Mrs. Brown’s request.
