Wilson C A Mayer of Wilson Mining & Smelting showed ore sample from a strong galena stringer in a crosscut near Silver Creek, three miles from Saltese. The vein, 520 feet in, is expected to reach main body in about 150 feet with a 50 foot new contract. Indications point to an important lead-silver ore body at depth around 600 feet.

Malcolm Glendinning, Spokane Spokesman-Review city editor and former Wallace resident, visited Wallace with Spokane merchants. A native of Salmon City in Lemhi County, he long served as Spokane paper’s coeur d Alene district correspondent and left Wallace in 1910 to assume his current post. The homecoming drew many longtime friends, showing high esteem for him.

American-Commander Mine Compressor To Be Operated Soon

An electric motor and two transformers arrived at American-Commander Mining and Milling near Mullan this week. The plant is expected to be connected in two weeks. The compressor is installed and pipeline to No 1 tunnel is laid. A small crew remains on site, with plans to boost the workforce before year’s end.
